Darden - Sister band with four-part harmonies

Four sisters, four-part vocal harmonies, ten musical instruments (and growing) and four prolific songwriters all adds up to - DARDEN! Selah (20), Clarah (19), Havilah (17), and Tabithah (16). Darden ... is an alternative vocal group from Fullerton, California. As four of six children, the girls began singing at an early age, traveling in an RV across America with their parents. Soon, the girls began seeking out their own opportunities to develop their talents as singers, songwriters, and musicians. Selah plays the violin and piano. Clarah plays acoustic guitar, bass, piano, and ukulele. Havilah plays guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. Tabithah, the youngest, plays the up-right bass, acoustic bass, electric bass, and ukulele. Most recently they have honed their vocal style which reflects their influences – a hybrid of Folk, Americana, Pop, Country, and Blue Grass, creating a distinctive original sound dubbed Alternative Americana. With a vocal style reminiscent of The Eagles and the crossover potential of bands like Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, and the The Zac Brown Band, Darden is carving their own lane through the current musical landscape. Their musical statement, built on a foundation of great songs, a down to earth image, and musical talent well beyond their years, is a refreshing antidote to today’s music scene. The Darden sisters are developing into prolific songwriters with sensitive and thought- provoking lyrics and strong melodies that float through effortless harmonies. The Darden journey is not about fortune or fame, but rather about sharing their love of music.MORE INFO!

GIDON - Reggae Soul Groove

Gidon is fast emerging as one of the brightest new stars on the international reggae circuit. With roots in Israel and the Netherlands, and raised on the sun-kissed coast of Southern California, ... Gidon’s high-vibe music reflects the diverse, cross-cultural influences that defined his early years. Fusing elements of rock, jazz, soul and old-school Roots Rock Reggae, Gidon creates a sunny, groove-filled sound that is every bit as soulful as the Jamaican legends who inspired him. After a decade spent playing the clubs of Los Angeles, London and Miami, Gidon’s lush, golden vocals and talent for writing future hits caught the attention of legendary reggae singer Beres Hammond. Gidon spent a week jamming with Hammond in his Miami hotel room, before the ‘King of Lover’s Rock Reggae’ sent him to the island of Jamaica to record his first full-length album with an all-star line-up of the most legendary names in the business. This gifted musician and singer is equally at home playing sax as he is on guitar, percussion, drums or bass. Gidon recently spent time in Jamaica recording with the high priests of reggae themselves in their legendary Kingston studios. Beres Hammond at Harmony House; legendary rhythm duo Sly & Robbie at Anchor Studio; Clive Hunt at House of Hits. Gidon cut his first single, “Call Me,” which got daily air play on MELLOW FM and IRIE FM, Jamaica’s and the World's number one radio station. His latest EP release "Rise" (Sept. 2016) has been played on David Rodigan's BBC 1 radio Xtra and Dennis Bovell's "Dub on Air" program on SOHO Radio, as well as local L.A. legend Chuck Foster's "Reggae Central" radio show. Gidon – Hebrew for Gideon – played the Ostroda Reggae Festival alongside Stephen Marley, Sly & Robbie and Katchafire in 2011; won the Carbondale, Colorado 2012 Mountain Fair Songwriters Competition; and opened the 2013 “Reggae to Reggae” show in Portland, Jamaica.MORE INFO!

Gene Baur - vegan activist best selling author

Gene Baur has been hailed as “the conscience of the food movement” by Time magazine. Since the mid-1980s, he has traveled extensively, campaigning to raise awareness about the abuses of industrialized ... factory farming and our system of cheap food production. A pioneer in the field of undercover investigations, Gene has visited hundreds of farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses, documenting the deplorable conditions that exist. His pictures and videos exposing factory farming cruelties have aired nationally and internationally, educating millions about the plight of modern farm animals. Gene has also testified in courts and before local, state, and federal legislative bodies, advocating for better conditions for farm animals. His most important achievements include winning the first-ever cruelty conviction at a U.S. stockyard and introducing the first U.S. laws to prohibit cruel farming confinement methods in Florida, Arizona, and California. His efforts have been covered by top news organizations, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, andThe Wall Street Journal. Gene has published two bestsellers, Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food (Scribner, 2008) and Living the Farm Sanctuary Life (Rodale, 2015), which he co-authored with Forks Over Knives author Gene Stone. Through his writing and his international speaking engagements, Gene provides simple actionable solutions coupled with a compassion-first approach to help us be the change we wish to see in treatment toward animals and in our food system. Gene began his activist career selling veggie hotdogs out of a VW van at Grateful Dead concerts to fund farm animal rescues. Today, he serves as president of Farm Sanctuary, the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization, with shelters in New York and California. Providing rescue, refuge, and adoption for hundreds of farm animals each year, Farm Sanctuary shelters enable visitors to connect with farm animals as emotional, intelligent individuals. Gene believes these animals stand as ambassadors for the billions of factory farm animals who have no voice, and he has dedicated his career to advocating on their behalf. Gene holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University, Northridge, and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University. In 2015, Gene was granted an Associate appointment in Health, Behavior, and Society at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In this prestigious position, Gene is focused on implementing courses related to evidence-based work on diet and farming as it aligns to Farm Sanctuary’s goals of shedding light on factory farming’s threat to public health, the environment and animal welfare.MORE INFO!
